Hairstyle trends in autumn / winter 2017-2018 are pleasingly wearable. Massive, architectural looks are out, while words like natural, clean, soft, romantic, sumptuous and chaotic come to mind with the collection of quick but beautiful hairstyles hairstylists created this season.

Before looking at the different hairstyle trends in 2017, let's talk about the autumn / winter 2017-2018 hair colors that we saw on the catwalks of the season.
Autumn / Winter 2017-2018 Hair Color Trends
Natural hair colors always dominate the slopes simply because they are more versatile and lighter to care for and are much easier to assign. Unlike last season, however, we saw many more wild and colorful locks, along with some interesting color shots.
# 1. Cool, Natural Blonde
While there were some platinum and strawberry blondes gracing the runway, the vast majority of blondes in this season had a cool shadow of dirty blondes. This type of hair color does not require too much care and is the most common natural blond shade that you could see in the wild.
# 2. Cool Light Brown
Similar to blondes this season, the brunettes were very natural and the hair had some A cool undertone without much color variation. Unlike in summer, when balayages ruled the catwalk, these mid-browns are uniform and unclean from top to bottom.
# 3. Red Hair
The Fiery red hair was a standout feature of the Autumn / Winter 2017-2018 hair color trends. Rich, rich reds have been featured on many runways, where designers were not afraid this season of beautiful ginger styling their outfits.
Bright, orange-red colors were seen at Ashley Williams. At Dries Van Noten we saw richer red shades. We also saw beautiful redheads with Alexander Wang, Arthur Arbesser, Moschino and many more.
# 4. Wild unnatural hair colors
Designers celebrated wildly colored hair of all shades. In many runways we saw a mix of models with natural hair colors and only a few models with hair-dyed crazy colors to arouse interest.
At Versus Versace, this hair color trend has been achieved with hair extensions in contrast to the natural hair colors of the models. We saw extensions in red, yellow and blue that really excited us. Ryan Lo was about pastel-colored anime wigs in the colors blue, yellow and lavender.
Autumn / Winter 2017-2018 Hair Trends
Now that we've covered all the hair color options for the fall season, let's look at some of the best fall / winter 2017-2018 hairstyles!
# 1. Low Ponytails
Whether hanging in pairs or too low, low ponytails are some of the simpler and more stylish hair trends in fall / winter 2017-2018. They were, overwhelmingly, the most common hairstyle choice we saw, which was not just loose, flowing hair.
We saw these low ponytails with the side and middle parts, sometimes very clean and sometimes a bit neglected. Wherever this was the styling choice, it was undeniably beautiful and never took the actual collection with it.
At Mulberry we saw the platonic ideal of this season's low ponytail. It was soft and clean, with a central part, secured in a way that seemed both comfortable and together back. For Tory Burch and Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, hairstylists pulled their hair back into soft, low-hanging ponytails with centerpieces and everything secured with black bows. In Jonathan Simkhai, the deep-seated ponytail was paired with wavy curls for a soft and romantic look.
At Olivier Theyskens, the low ponytail was very arbitrary and fast. It was backed with a piece of latex, which gives interesting texture and a little edge.
My favorite low ponytail for fall 2017 was at Delpozo, where two small strands of hair were attached with a smaller rubber band, and then all along with the rest of the hair collected a bigger rubber band. The result was a broad ponytail with a little architectural interest.
At Loewe, we also saw some cool ponytails, with a midsection and a lot of gloss, at J.W. Anderson, where all hair was combed to one side, into a ponytail, and to Aigner, where a strand of hair was wrapped around the base of the ponytail, giving it a more professional feel.
# 2. High ponytails
There is more effort in a high ponytail, and the effect of it is certainly quite noticeable. A high ponytail, especially in the hairstyle trends in Fall / Winter 2017-2018, is a perfect look for a boss who does not take prisoners. It's also an excellent styling decision if you still want to show that you have put some effort into your hair, but you do not want it to cut a nice outfit or face.
Oscar de la Renta's high ponytails had slipped back and been a bit stern, but they were perfectly balanced by the colorful make-up and feminine fabrics. At Prabal Gurung they made the faces of the models and the outfits themselves the stars of the show. At Zuhair Murad, the high ponytail was anything but tight and restrictive, instead he looked casually sporty. It was paired with heavily textured hair and a side swept pop.
# 3. Messy Swept-Back Hair
Combining and combining two opposites is never a bad choice in fashion, a great way to highlight duality and art to accomplish. One of the ways we've seen this season is with messy, often damp, back-cut hair.
Keeping your hair looking moist is not an easy task, especially as all wet looks were very unkempt this season - think Rockstar at the end of the show, soaked in sweat, or maybe a rebellious protester who's just coming along the water cannon had been poured over. At Giambattista Valli long hair was combed back, but wavy and very wet looking. It fell on its back in the kind of waves one would expect from someone coming straight out of the shower. The key to this kind of look is naturally wavy hair and lots and lots of gel. We saw a similar but slightly cleaner look at Moncler Gamme Rouge, another collection designed by Valli.
At Thakoon, the hair was lightly mousse treated and then brushed back, leaving most of the curls to make their own beautiful, natural, wind-whipped thing.
An 80s vibe on the Nina Ricci catwalk also perfectly spread the swept, gelled and chaotic look. Strong, voluminous hair that was big and voluptuous at the same time and also slightly damp and worn. Well-groomed brows and peach-colored make-up combined the whole thing well.
# 4. Lean side panels
While many The fall of 2017 hairstyles were on the softer and more unkempt side of things, some hairdressers could be sure to style the hair smoothly into perfect side pieces. While we've also seen many mid-sections this season, the consistently clean side panels definitely fit into the hairstyle trends in Fall / Winter 2017-2018.
For the Brock Collection, stylists have added a lot of drama. Look swept with a side panel by making sure the hair shone positively. In Guy Laroche's side was hyperclean, the hair attached close to the scalp and kept very straight and brushed behind the ears.
We also saw hair styled in a side panel by Jason Wu, Ermanno Scervino and Thierry Mugler.
# 5. Middle Parts
It is not easy to change the hair, so it is nice to have both the middle and the side parts al s see part of the hair trends in autumn / winter 2017-2018. The middle parts are a bit more retro and reminiscent of the 70s. In combination with the overall natural and wavy look, with most locks styled this season, the effect is soft, innocent, romantic and fortunately not overly symmetrical.
For Damien Boissinot, Isabel Marant styled the hairstyle in soft, natural waves, giving all models a soft midsection. At Chloe, simple, flaky waves and a flat crown along with the middle part have fitted well with the flowing fabrics and early 70s mood of the collection.
We saw mid-sections on many other runways, along with many other hairstyle trends in the fall of 2017. These included Leonard, Loewe, Prada, Roksanda, and more.
# 6. Naturally curly beauty
While curly hair was not necessarily an issue at a particular fashion show, some models with beautiful curls graced enough catwalks to make natural curls that d Definitely part of the fall / winter 2017 hair trends.
Fernanda Oliveira, who was walking with both Proenza Schouler and Yves Saint Laurent, made a splash with her curly bob haircut and adorable pony.
While most models at Zero Maria Cornejo had their hair perfectly styled into beautiful wavy curls, some models have a limited style, instead they rock their natural curly afros and look amazing. Similarly, Binx Walton and Cleo Cwiek shone with natural curly bobsleighs that peeked under Marc Jacobs's stylish hats.
# 7 Untouched waves
In recent years, we have seen both curls and straightened hair that dominate the runways, but the This is the season for natural-looking, untouched waves. Sometimes the waves that made hairstyle trends in the autumn / winter 2017-2018 were wild, with many overflights, while at other times they were soft, lush and smooth. Anyway, they were all beautiful and a wonderful sign for women with naturally wavy hair who finally have a season to put off the heat-styling tools.
For Max Mara, Sam McKnight styled loose waves, everything was torn to the side. They looked clean and natural, but with only a few trips to be on Earth.
At Christian Dior's, Guido Palau's hair was styled into soft waves that had been brushed out in a beautiful cloud effect that was totally natural.
At Marni, natural waves were celebrated along with tight natural curls. This meant that due to the lack of heat treatments, bangs, bobs and long hair were textured and unique for each model.
# 8. Folded over low ponytail updos
One variation we saw in the low-cut ponytail was a folded ponytail updo. This is an excellent hair choice for anyone with long hair who is sick of buns and overly decorated updos. It's a chic and modern way of shaping hair for special events that are unique and not overly stuffy.
At Rochas, the folded ponytail updo was clean, smooth and feminine. The base of the low updo was wrapped in a strand of hair, while the half-roll itself was wrapped in a delicate net and decorated with a bow at the top.
For Cividini it was a messier version of the updo (maybe Lowdo would be better suited?). The ponytail was twisted with many overhangs, while the front of the hair that had been swept back was secured with a plethora of conspicuously visible hairpins.
# 9. Chunky Braids
Is there a better way, rustic beauty and unkempt To overstretch edges than with a thick braid? It's so nice to see how beautiful and soft creations make hairstyle trends in the fall of 2017. This season we saw thick fishtail braids, thick semi-updos with pigtails and only classic big braids. For Antonio Berardi, the hairstyle was a real cornucopia of texture. A mix of regular braids, fishtail braids and smaller Dutch braids just sprouted from the heads of the models in a beautiful and voluptuous way that is impossible to take your eyes off.
On the Christian Siriano catwalk, messy fishtail braids delighted us with their unique texture. The thick fishtail braids were tied with wire at various points along their length, creating a unique, beautiful and unconventional fishtail.
A more traditional plait made a mermaid splash in Alberta Ferretti, while in Alice + Olivia a chunky braid looked like a rustic headband.
10. Small braids
Big braids mean big ones Texture, but small pigtails create a much more subtle interest, whether they're threaded into an updo or as accents for otherwise laid back and f adding hippie hair. These plait pigtails are some of the hairstyle trends in Fall / Winter 2017-2018 that allow you to embody moody looks with an unconventional twist.
On the runway of Jill Stuart, tiny braids were pulled through loose, wavy threads of hair, texture specifically along the temples.
At Valentino, rather than channel boho chic, the braids had a much more serious and refined look about them. Two small braids, one on each hanger, accentuated the symmetry of the collection itself and worked well with a central hair piece.
At Maison Margiela, small braids from the temple snaked into a tight, low-ballerina bun at the neck of the models.
11. Topos: updos entirely Upside Down
There were not a ton of updos as part of the hairstyle trends fall / winter 2017-2018, which meant that this one had an eccentric look at this glamor eyelet looks really stood out. Instead of traditional updos attached to the base of the neck or on the crown, some designers decided to twist and fix the hair on top of their heads. This style of stretching prolongs hair, is slightly androgynous and is certainly unique. At Bottega Veneta, the hair was curled, and then turned upside down, with just a little tip over, to make a suggestion fringe. It was part of the fifties Femme Fatale, partly futuristic and strange. For Laura Biagiotti, the hair was styled in tiny, delicate curls, which were then pulled from the middle of the head to the very top to the end of the crown, in a look that was both romantic, reminding us a bit of a mohawk.
Last but not least, with Leitmotiv, it was really a half-topdo that was created. The hair looked wet, and about half of it had been twisted in two rolls nailed to the top of his head and spinning over his forehead.
12. Cornrows and Dutch Braids
A big Dutch braid is romantic, but a little cornrow is sporty. This weaving style is fun and versatile, and it was great to see the different ways hairstylists decided to use it for the fall hairstyle trends in the fall of 2017.
With David Koma, ultra-clean, clean and tight boxer braids at the side of the head, the hair kept away from the models' faces, adding a sporty edge to a tight-swept look.
At Balmain, Sam McKnight created real boxer braids with a decidedly urban flair. Three Cornrows were braided, starting near the forehead, which were swept back into a narrow, low ponytail. The look was wild and edgy and worked well with the big picture "Do not mess with me" on this runway. At Andrew Gn, the models' hair was completely pulled back into cornrows, which was an original twist to the rather professional, yet flowing and tribal collection that had many bohemian elements.
13. Piecey Bangs
Textured pony is a hairstyle choice that is usually flattering. They beautifully frame the face and, depending on how they are performed, they can look cute or totally punk rock. Many models rocked textured and coarse-cut pony tones, making them one of the hair trends of fall 2017.
At Jeremy Scott, we saw edgy, punk-inspired pony clothes as well as simple pony sounds that were just a little bit more bits.
At Stella McCartney, in addition to clean mid-section hair, many models wore their hair with textured and even curly bangs. My favorite was the model Nova Orchid, whose fringe was cut into an eccentric, asymmetrical, dainty babydoll bang.
We also saw a great pony at Lanvin, especially the model Tess Angel. Also in Tadashi Shoji there was a lot of pony.
# 14. Curled Hair
Alexander McQueen's curly hair was by far my favorite. It was done with a small straightener, and hair stylist Guido Palau actually went back with a brush afterwards. It ended softly, structured and in words of "witchy". To make it even more unique, two strands of hair were tied together in front, along with a low and loose ponytail in the back.
At Vanessa Seward, curly hair was paired with another fall 2017 hairstyle trend - tight, low-hanging ponytails. It was an interesting way to combine a really straight and smooth texture with a rippled texture.
At Ports 1961, the designers chose a serious crimp look. Full hair was curled from top to bottom and then brushed back for a soft and soft look that was completely different from the ruffled look of the '90s.
At Dans La Vie, we saw the opposite of looking at Ports in 1961. Broad tufts of hair were curled together to create a folded paper fan effect. That looked shiny and clean and almost futuristic, how accurate it was.
# 15. Braided Rolls
Fast, but romantic, braided buns are an excellent updo for a busy lady. In the hectic backstage of a major fashion show, it's a natural choice to give models braided buns because you immediately get texture and beauty without doing too much.
Dolce & amp; Gabbana is famous for the femininity and retro romance of its runways. This season was no different, with models who had updos that were not overly styled, but instead were simple and decorated with floral arrangements and tiaras. Low, braided buns were a common feature that worked beautifully with the collection.
Orlando Pita formed the low plaited buns at Elie Saab and somehow managed to show off a few different sides of this effortless updo. The hair was voluminous, with many high flyers, and on some models it looked much more feminine and classy, while on others it looked like the quick styling choice of a woman who really just got her hair out of the way, so she could get down to business.
On the Marchesa runway, low-hanging braided buns with bows and flowers were secured for an extra-romantic look. At the front, all models had their hair in a soft side part.
# 16. Pixie Cuts
I think Pixie haircuts are wonderfully transgressive. They are a real sign of trust that does not depend on anyone else and what they think.
I was thrilled to see so many designers celebrating the models with these fearlessly short hairstyles. While it is a difficult decision for any woman to go so short, I think that the fall / winter 2017-2018 hairstyles give many excellent ideas, and also make women believe that short hair can be breathtaking.
We've seen ultra-short pixie cuts at MSGM, Prada, Paco Rabanne and Giorgio Armani (where they've been paired with another trendy pony). At Jeremy Scott, we saw my favorite Pixie haircut - briefly dyed with messy pony and hot pink. Both Adwoa Aboah and Shanelle Nyasiase rocked short cut haircuts on the Miu Miu Runway because most other models had their hair covered with big hats.
# 17. Semi updos with Side-Swept Hair
Many of the hairstyle trends in fall / winter 2017-2018 were versatile, a bit chaotic and really showed lightness. These semi-updos are one of those examples: a hairstyle that is soft and feminine, suitable for any occasion, any time of the day, and does not need too much fussing.
The plaited look of Jenny Packham was rustic, feminine and lush. Thick hair was washed on one side and over the shoulder, while a thick, loose braid held all the strands out of his face.
# 18 Bob Haircuts
There was also a comeback this season for the Bob Haircut of the 60s Years - haircuts that were boyish and androgynous in the best possible way, celebrating the blurry lines of sex.
We saw Alexander, a structured, voluminous bob with a beautiful pony. The model Catherine McNeil ran for Lanvin and showed an impeccable bowl cut that could look modern thanks to ultra-narrow cut sides.
For Haider Ackermann, most models were equipped with black wigs in a short, mushroom-shaped bob shape, with uneven fringes and asymmetrical angles.
# 19. Architectural Madness
There were not many intense architectural glances, and certainly none of those for the updos in fall 2017. Instead, we saw some very architectural ha As some avant-garde designers have always been eager to break the trend and create eccentric and eye-catching hairstyles for 2017.
This season we've seen at Gucci where Hair styled Bob in a futuristic helmet with a ton of teasing and hairspray. The ends were rolled up, making the hair look not like hair, but like a structure. At Junya Watanabe, colorful wigs were cut into graphic shapes with ultra-chopped bangs. The hair on top was cut shorter, in an eighties nod to David Bowie, who created a very clean and architectural retro futuristic mullet.
# 20. Voluminous' 60s Dos
Hairstylists and designers will forever draw inspiration from the recent past, and as ever In the season, they could count on them coming to the 1960s. The iteration of '60s hair for fall / winter 2017-2018 hairstyle trends focused on bouffants with a ton of volume that was paired with' 60s-inspired make-up as well. At Moschino, the '60s hair was perfectly nestled in smooth beehives. A bit of texture modernized this look with lumpy fringe, which also fit into the textured pop trend. At Chanel's hair was teased to high skies and then brushed back. It was a very late '60s look, with a bit of space-age vibe, thanks to faded knitted headbands and a smoothed but not too smooth surface of the hair.
