This time, we are immersing ourselves in the fall collection 2018 by Phillip Lim and Prabal Gurung and the aesthetics of Ralph Lauren in the spring of 2018, revealing a (fashion) world of memories and escapism. Get ready for barefoot models, pink obsessions and a few moving tear drops here and there!
NYFW Fall 2018 Diary: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung & Ralph Lauren
3.1 Phillip Lim Autumn / Winter 2018-2019 Collection RTW

Prabal Gurung Autumn / Winter 2 018-2019 RTW Collection
Prabal Gurungs Catwalk Show i It's always one of NYFW's most anticipated. Like Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung fell in love with a nostalgic leitmotif for his fall collection in 2018 and let us travel back to Nepal where he spent his childhood.
Translated into fashion, guru flooded ngs untold memories NYFW with colorful patterns in abundance, rich textures and heavily layered proposals that dominate the scene.
Like Lim (and many other designers at this point), Gurung focused on deconstructed suits and asymmetrical cuts that contrast beautifully with the abundance of Nepalese-inspired coats, jackets, and pullovers.
Last but not least, Prabal Gurung also brought politics to the stage (and again, since he has been promoting feminist messages on his platform for some time).

Backstage, he explained that his Prabal Gurung collection was streaked in the fall of 2018 by the Mosuo Matriarchal tribe of China and the activist Gulabi Gang, whose connection is the color pink. Pink, which in western society stereotypically represents submission and all normative, is in these cases a representation of strength and fearlessness. And we are down for her!
Ralph Lauren Spring / Summer 2018 RTW Collection
While others, like Jason Wu, her shoe lines impressively underlined, for his Spring / Summer 2018 collection, Ralph Lauren was all about the clothing line, running barefoot on the runway letting the models run.
The new Spring 2018 season will, for Ralph Lauren, center on posh pullovers, airy dresses, shorts, standard Ralph Lauren suits and flared trousers, and a color palette strictly made of white and blue that those who live (or visit often) the French Riviera is particularly appealing (do not worry, there are also some yellows and greens clearly inspired by the Jamaican flag).
We do not know if escapism is a good way to handle our world's disquieting political issues, but focusing on nature, having fun and love (even for just one day) does not sound that bad at all.
